چکیده

The deterioration of steel rebar in reinforced concrete is a major issue that reduces RC structures’ durability and structural integrity. Significant efforts have been devoted to developing high-performance coatings provide efficient protection the rebar, one promising approach utilize nanofiller as additives improve performance polymer resins. This study aimed corrosion resistance by applying an epoxy coating with graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) silica nanopowders (NSs) additives. behavior nanocomposite-coated rebars was characterized via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) test, salt spray exposure utilized evaluate coated rebars. Investigation abrasion mechanical properties conducted using falling sand test tensile coupon test. In addition, nanocomposites were scanned micro-CT explore effect binary nanofillers on intactness polymeric matrix. GNP-NS hybrid filler reduced void fraction 0.002%, whereas pure 0.07%. reinforcement found properties; addition increased strength 37.1 MPa, 56% increase compared epoxy. Additionally, fillers led improvement 16% Young’s modulus. terms resistance, Rc value about three times greater than ones single-filler during initial this remained undegraded after 200 hr exposure. contrast, group containing displayed lowest thickness loss following testing, 74% reduction loss, showing coating’s high resistance. Hence, results reveal superior wear capabilities, anticorrosion properties, durability. research provides valuable insights into implementing material protect structures, therefore significantly increasing sustainability structures.

Corrosion Behavior of Stainless Steel Clad Rebar

Stainless steel clad rebar (SCR) was investigated because it may become a cost-effective means of controlling corrosion in concrete under very aggressive environments. Sound SCR (316L cladding) resisted corrosion in saturated Ca(OH)2 solution (SCS) with up to 5 wt% chloride. Cladding breaks on SCR induced significant corrosion of exposed underlying CS in SCS with only 1 wt% chloride. A computer...

Corrosion Performance of Epoxy-coated Rebar in Florida Keys Bridges

Severe corrosion of epoxy coated rebar in the substructure of 5 major marine bridges in the Florida Keys was detected after only a few years of construction. Corrosion occurred underneath the coating and was preceded by loss of adherence between the steel and the coating. Damage surveys of the bridges, which were built around 1980, were conducted from 1986 to 2000. Corrosion resulted in delamin...

CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF ZINC COATED STEEL REBAR IN HIGH-STRENGTH REINFORCED CONCRETE

A large number of reinforced concrete structures subjected to chloride ions. Two basicapproaches for preventing corrosion of reinforcing steel embedded in concrete are: Increasing theconsolidation of concrete and using different coating on rebars. In present research steel rebarsare coated in different ways: a) 40 µm of zinc electroplated on steel rebar b) Zinc powder withepoxy paste (zinc rich...

09207 - Corrosion of Epoxy- and Polymer/zinc- Coated Rebar in Simulated Concrete Pore Solution

This work is a preliminary examination of mechanistic issues on the comparative corrosion performance of regular epoxy-coated rebar (ECR) and dual polymer-zinc coated reinforcement (DCR) in simulated concrete pore solution with and without chloride ions, at polarizations from +100 mV to -1000 mV in the saturated calomel electrode (SCE) scale and exposure periods of 1 month or longer. Both mater...

Improvement of Mechanical Properties and Work-Hardening Behavior of Intercritically Annealed Dual Phase Steel

The effect of the initial microstructure and intercritical annealing on mechanical properties and work-hardening response of a high-formability low carbon steel were studied. The work-hardening analysis was based on the modified Crussard–Jaoul method. The ferritic-pearlitic sheets showed low strength and high total elongation with the appearance of the yield point phenomenon. The occurrence of ...
